  • 4 cups stale bread (French bread, brioche, or challah), cut into 1-inch cubes

  • 6 large eggs

  • 1½ cups milk or half-and-half 

  • ¼ cup brown sugar

  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon

  • ½ tsp salt

  • Toppings: maple syrup, fresh berries, powdered sugar (optional)

Directions

  • Spray or butter a round oven-safe dish that fits inside your Instant Pot. 
  • Place the bread cubes into the dish.
  • In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt. Pour over bread and press gently so bread absorbs the custard.P 
  • Pour 1 cup (or manufacturer’s recommended amount) of water into the Instant Pot inner pot. Place the trivet, then lower the dish into the pot. Seal lid. 
  • Set the Instant Pot to High Pressure for 30 minutes, then allow a natural pressure release for ~10 minutes before manually releasing any remaining pressure. Instant
  • Carefully remove the dish. Optional: Place under the broiler 3-4 minutes to get a golden top. 
  • Serve warm, topped with maple syrup, fresh fruit, or powdered sugar.
